Stencil Accent Wall

My parents new house is very black and white with little color. My mom ordered a beautiful stencil and asked me to help her add some character to her master bedroom! This stencil wall project is fun, easy, inexpensive and customizable! We used a dandelion stencil, but there are so many stencils and paint colors out there to fit any style!

Step 1: Prep Wall

Take off any outlet covers, wall sconces, etc. that may get in the way during your project. Move furniture away from the wall. Cover outlets with painters tape. Clean up any blemishes that you see on the wall with a sponge.

Step 2: Begin Stencil (Top Left Corner)

Begin your project in the upper left corner of your wall. Use painters tape to secure your stencil to the wall. For the paint, we first started using a roller, but then switched to a paint brush. Using the paint brush allowed us to get crisp lines and a cleaner design.

** No need to put a lot of paint on your paint brush.

*** If your stencil gets too messy, or if paint starts to accumulate on the clean side, wash stencil then dry it off.

****I recommend using a stencil that doesn’t have such tiny details.

Step 3: Match up Registration Points & Repeat!

Each stencil should have registration points that you can use to repeat your stencil design. These registration points are important to use so that your design is straight and even throughout the whole wall.

Step 4: Re install Outlet Covers, Wall Sconces, etc.

Re install outlet covers, wall sconces, etc. Move your furniture back where it was, and enjoy your new accent wall!
