Spring has sprung and now it’s time to get your home ready for the nicer weather! If you live up north like I have for most of my life you know that spring is a special time of year when we can finally leave our homes from hibernation and enjoy some fresh, sunny air. When spring time comes, my to do list gets a little out of hand. I’ve compiled a simple list on how you can freshen up your home for spring time!
Fresh Flowers
One of my favorite things to do around late spring time is go to the farmers market and pick up fresh flowers. Or if you’re lucky enough, search around the house and pick out some flowers from your own backyard! If the farmers market isn’t open yet, head to your local florist. Grab your favorite vase, arrange your flowers and take in the beautiful aura.
Declutter Your Home
Every spring, I like to go through each room and get rid of anything that I don’t need, or don’t use anymore. I recently read Marie Kondo’s book on tidying up, and I am practicing her method on letting go of anything that doesn’t spark joy in my life. Go through closets as well and make a pile to save, to throw away, and to give away. Decluttering will simplify your life and help to freshen up your space while keeping it nice and organized.
Springtime Decor
Is anyone else a little pokey taking down last seasons decor? May is fast approaching and I still find a few snowmen and valentines hearts lingering around the house. Dig out your fun spring decor and liven up your home with some bright colors. Now is a great time to organize your old decor in labeled bins and stow them away until next season.
Drag the Grill out
Dig out the grill from your garage and give it a good cleaning. You’ll also want to prepare your grilling utensils, then stock up on charcoal and lighter fluid. Invite your friends over for a barbecue and start flipping those hot dogs and hamburgers!
Rake the Yard
Give your yard a facelift by raking up all the twigs, leaves and rocks that are suffocating your lawn. After the snow melts in Wisconsin, theres no way of knowing what you may find in your yard. Raking will definetly help the visual appeal of your yard, but it is also a matter of lawn health. Prevent pests and diseases, and encourage new growth by getting rid of all that debris. Invite your friends over to help and reward them with a yummy barbecue!
Deep Clean Windows
Clean the inside and outside of your windows as well as the window sills. Sparkling glass can make a huge difference in any room. On those nice, breezy days, open up your windows and let the fresh air flood in.
Dust Vents & Fans
Air vents and fans can accumulate a lot of dust. Dust all of your vents and fans and polish them up with a safe all purpose cleaner. Replace air conditioner filters and your air will be much cleaner!
Freshen up bedding and furniture
We have three wonderful fur babies running around the house. While two of the dogs don’t shed, one of them is a yellow lab and leaves hair wherever he goes. Spring is the perfect time to wash all of their bedding as well as any furniture they favor.
