I used to think that was silly advice (no duh, dad😅) but now I get it. You don't have to have every step figured out before starting a project. Sometimes you just have to figure out the first step and go from there. I've learned SO much through trial and error over the years, and I can promise you that plenty of these projects didn't go according to plan. But that's kind of the point. You figure things out as you go, and each project teaches you something for the next one. So if there's something you've been wanting to tackle around your house but keep putting off because you don't know how, maybe this is your sign to give it a shot! The full line-by-line breakdown is on the last slide 👉🏼 It started as a total mess and there was no way we were ever parking a car in there. We did a budget-friendly refresh first. Cleared out the old shelving, painted the walls, and epoxy painted the floor. But doing laundry in the garage was still inconvenient.. and we knew this space had more potential! We ran the numbers first to make sure a half bath and the added square footage would pay off. It checked out, so we went all in and converted the whole 250 sq ft garage into living space. We used a general contractor for the conversion, which came out to about $130 per square foot before finishes. We installed cabinets and added all the final trim work ourselves.
