If you have a narrow bathroom like ours, this is an easy butcher block vanity that you can DIY. This clean and simple look allows you to dress it up with fun decor and bathroom essentials! For more pictures of this bathroom, check out a tour of the Dogtrot here!

STEP 1: Cut & Install 1″ X 4″ Boards

Dimensions will vary based on the length of your wall, our wall is 4′ 11″. Cut a piece of the 1″ X 4″ board the length of your back wall. Cut 1″ X 4″ boards for each side wall. These side boards should be cut two inches shorter than the width you want your counter top to be. Our countertop width is 1′ 10″, so my 1″ X 4″ support boards are 1′ 8″ long.

Measure how high you want your vanity to be. An ideal height for a vanity with a vessel sink would be between 24″ and 35″. Using your drill and screws, install your 3 support boards (install back wall support board first). Our vanity is going to be 3′ tall, so I installed my support boards at 2′ 10 1/2″ because the butcher block adds 1 1/2″.

***Use a stud finder and drill your screws into studs for extra strength.

STEP 2: Cut & Install Butcher Block Top

Cut your butcher block to size. Our countertop is 4′ 11″ long and 1′ 10″ wide. The front apron part is 4′ 11″ long and 6″ wide. After cutting your butcher block, install the countertop first by securing it to your support boards with L shaped corner brackets (shown above).

STEP 3: Cut & Install Butcher Block Apron

For the apron butcher block, drill holes on the back side with a Kreg Jig. After drilling the holes, use your 1 1/4″ screws to secure the apron up into the countertop (shown below). Make sure it is nice and flush on the front side where your apron meets the countertop.

STEP 4: Sand

Sand the entire butcher block surface. Be sure to sand where the front apron meets up with the butcher block.

STEP 5: Apply Polyurethane

Apply a clear coat of polyurethane to the entire butcher block surface. Allow first coat to dry, lightly sand surface with fine sanding paper (220 grit), apply second coat of polyurethane.

STEP 6: Caulk

Caulk around the entire butcher block surface where it meets with the wall.

STEP 7: Install Sink

Install your sink of choice. We bought this vessel sink off of Wayfair. After installing sink, be sure to caulk around the base of the sink as well.

STEP 8: Add Decor & Enjoy!!

Add some decor to your new bathroom vanity to finish it off! If you complete this project I would love to see the results. Feel free to send a picture to homewithstefani@gmail.com or reply to this post!
